The Feast of Unleavened Bread
Seven days of bread without leaven, kept in remembrance of a deliverance that allowed no time for waiting.
Seven days shall ye eat unleavened bread.Exodus 12:15
There was no time for leaven. The morning came too quickly, and Israel gathered up unleavened portions and went. The feast keeps the haste of that night.
Leaven is also read as a figure: sin is like hidden yeast, spreading and swelling in secret places. Seven days to purge the leaven, and seven days to walk upright.
How it is kept
Unleavened Bread is one of the three annual occasions on which the males of Israel were commanded to appear before the LORD (Deuteronomy 16:16). The Huldah Academic Legacy Awards are presented during this feast.
